Roger Kinney was born in Spokane, Washington in July 1955. He spent most of his free time on his grandparent’s dairy farm until 4th grade when he moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon. He later attended Lakeridge High School and was in the second graduating class of the new school. In his high school years he mostly focused on basketball, cars and motorcycles and worked in construction to finance his hobbies. After high school he attended Whitworth University for four years to pursued a career in accounting, he later got a job as an accountant at ISC Systems, a banking software company. ISC Systems eventually experienced a hostile takeover from a competing company in Europe.  The severance package from the takeover enabled Mr.Kinney to pursue his teaching certificate for a year at Gonzaga University. Mr. Kinney has been working at BEHS since 1989, and a lot has changed since his arrival. Mr. Kinney started off by teaching Applied Math, Accounting, and Keyboarding. He taught Mr.Hamilton and says that he was one of his best students. In 1996 school principal, Beth Vanderveen wanted a DECA Club at BE so she put Mr. Kinney at the helm and he’s been the DECA teacher ever since.
